Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

LitUp Chicago, a new shop for lighting fixtures, opened at 4015 North Rockwell Street last Monday. Locals Will Flores and Shari Davis are the owners of the North Center showroom and studio, which has custom lighting fixtures made from reclaimed materials (think vintage fans and plumber piping.) The homey shop, wrapped in chocolate-hued brick walls, also offers "functional trinkets." These include wine racks made from salvaged wood and shelves constructed out of suitcases. Also on offer: handmade goods, coffee, tea, and beer-theme novelties, and vintage-lighting repair.
