HUMBOLDT PARK—Did you know that empire-building lightning rod Brendan Sodikoff (Gilt Bar, Au Cheval, Bavette's) owns the historic bar and music venue The California Clipper? It's true, and he's planning to open a 40-seat cinema in the back room.

RIVER NORTH—Sodikoff also opened his latest restaurant, the Italian spot Cocello, in the former home of his misunderstood Jewish deli concept, Dillman's. It's as sexy and tasty as his other spots.

RIVER NORTH—Celeb chef David Burke is closing his bacon-y "handwich" shop next to the James Hotel, Burke's Bacon Bar, next month. It opened less than nine months ago.

UPTOWN—Chicago, your Sonic is almost ready. The drive-in chain is opening its first Chicago location (1022 W. Wilson) on May 6.
