After shuttering its Michigan Avenue store, Eddie Bauer will open again in the former Borders space at 755 West North Avenue. Smaller than the former store, the new space will be 7,726 square feet (the Michigan Avenue store was a whopping 30,000 square feet.)
Downsizing retail space is part of a current Chicago trend, notes Crain's Chicago Business. Forever 21 is opening a new store on State Street that will be about 17,200 square feet—its former shop was 30,000 square feet.
