Chicagoan Ross Sider found his passion for sneakers in the mid-'90s, when "everyone was engulfed in Michael Jordan and the cool thing to do was to get the latest pair of shoes," he told Chicago Sun-Times Pioneer Press.

Now, Sider runs Sole Revival along with his business partner, Dave Steiner. At just a few months old, the business specializes in adding artsy touches to athletic shoes. "Know what we are? We're a tattoo parlor for your sneakers," Sider has said.

Customers either purchase shoes from Sole Revival, or bring in a pair of pre-owned kicks. Fifteen Chicago artists are on hand to customize the shoes with hundreds of design options, and work starts at $100. Learn more about the company here.
