Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Now open at Oakbrook Center, PIRCH is a new kind of home store. More accurately described as a showroom, the spot lets customers test drive home appliances in vignettes that resemble a kitchen, a bathroom, and other rooms. The vignettes hold working cook tops, refrigerators, ovens, sinks, baths, and more.
"The experience in Oakbrook will rewrite how products in the appliance and plumbing industry are viewed by the general public," said PIRCH CEO Jeffrey R. Sears in a press release. "PIRCH is delivering a retail experience that encourages guests to dream about, play with, and ultimately choose products that will improve their lives at home."
Take a peek inside the showroom, below. And if you're in the market for a new faucet, you may want to schedule a trip to Oak Brook this weekend.
