Wedding Trend: Sparkly Headpieces Instead of Veils

We know what you're thinking when looking at headpieces for your wedding: "How can such a little white piece of tulle that I'll only wear for 20 minutes cost so much money?" (Yeah, we don't know either). Luckily, choosing a white gauzy veil doesn't have to be the end all be all. If you're going spend that much money on a headpiece, there better be mucho bling involved.

We had a quick chat with Susan Metropoulos, owner of Chicago's The Left Bank Jewelry & Bridal Finery Boutique, about what finishing piece to don on the big day. She's owned Left Bank for the past 19 years and before that, she was a wedding planner for 10 years. So, we can safely say the woman knows her stuff.

"Since we're in the super-hot months here in Chicago, many brides decide to do the side-swept, deconstructed up-do," she explained. "If you're having your picture taken for eight to 10 hours, you don't want your hair to look flat. It's nice to put a beautiful barrette or clip in there."

"Also, there's a lot of brides going for the art deco, Great Gatsby look," Metropoulos said. "It's a very thematic look, and I don't see that fading anytime soon." Here are some hair accessories you can clip, snap, tie or slide in for a charming look that's sure to impress.
