Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
West Town has long been known for its funky bars and great restaurants, and its retail scene is heating up along with the Nigerian prawn at Ruxbin.
After the Do Division Street Festival and Sidewalk Sale, the neighborhood is set to launch a new shopping initiative. Called After Hours on Chicago Avenue, the event kicks off on June 27 and will take place on the last Friday of every month.
From 6 to 9 p.m., local businesses will stay open to offer promotions, sales, and snacks and sips. Participating stores will include some of our faves: Ad Hoc, Study Hall, Paperish Mess, Tarnish, Sprout Home, Permanent Records, Epic Spices, Seek Vintage and others. So it's a perfect nigh to get better acquainted with the neighborhood's booming retail scene—and grab a night cap at Five Star.
