Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

I.D. Chicago, which has had a deliciously modern showroom in Lakeview for 14 years, is packing up and heading to 375 West Erie Street. With brick walls and timber ceilings, the lofty new showroom stick to I.D.'s model by combining a high-end optical shop with home furnishings.

The River North location, however, will be double the space of the old store. That means more room for furniture and lighting from Gus Modern, Blu Dot, Bensen, and Menu. There will also be an area for owners Steven Burgert and Anthony Almaguer to showcase vintage wares.

There's a sale going on at the current location as we speak, and the new store will open on August 15. Stay tuned for a peek inside.
