Local design duo Liz Patelski and Lisa Rigney of Remi Canarie are ones to watch. Last year they were named Racked Young Gun Semi-Finalists, and next month, Remi Canarie will show at Saint Louis Fashion Week as one of six finalists for the Saint Louis Fashion Fund.

They recently moved their studio to River North, and we took the opportunity to meet with Liz and Lisa and see their new spring 2015 collection in person.

Remi Canarie is quite young, but already within the past few collections, we've seen an evolution in their look. They've continued with clean and easy silhouettes, and for spring 2015, they've introduced dreamy prints and bold colors. When asked about their growth as designers and a team, they shared, "Our design process and aesthetic have evolved as our personal/working relationship has evolved. We have very different individual aesthetics, but I think we are finally in harmony."

This harmony has lead to a very unique aesthetic. Their spring collection was inspired by a photo Liz took in Yellowstone National Park, and with that, they found a way to bring color into their aesthetic while staying true to their more neutral palette. Their collection strikes a beautiful balance between wearable and fashion forward with edgy touches like capes and color block panels carefully woven into effortless dresses and tunics. Following the lead of many established designers, Remi Canarie is doing an exclusive pre-sale of their spring collection on their website.

It's really exciting to see such style and promise from Chicago talent. We wish the best for Remi Canarie and hope they take home the Saint Louis Fashion Fund!
