Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Please give a warm welcome to Lani Love, Racked Chicago's new editor. Lani has lived in both Southern California and New York, but she's been in Chicago for the past three years. She says she's loved watching the local scene grow: "The city used to be just a lot of mass retailers, but now there are many noteworthy independent boutiques and made-in-Chicago brands. And coming from SoCal and NYC, I love that Chicago isn't picked over."
You might know Lani from her stint guest-editing last month, her six years blogging at fashion-and-lifestyle site Sugar Rock Catwalk, or her career as a DJ—she was voted Best DJ in Chicago magazine's 2014 Reader Poll. "I'm actively DJing every week," she says, "and some of my favorite gigs are retail events because it's the melding of my two favorite things, music and fashion."
