New York-based fashion designer Samantha Sleeper recently signed on as curatorial director of Purely Fashion. The Chicago-based app allows users to locate designer merchandise and check out runway snaps and look books, so anyone on the Purely team knows a thing or two about style.

We asked Sleeper which Chicago shops land on her "best of the best" list. Here are her picks, which offer everything from investment pieces to party dresses and all-natural apothecary goods.

"After numerous clients mentioned Chalk as their go-to boutique, I ventured over for a visit this summer," says Sleeper. "Thoughtful curation of feminine silhouettes, subversive detailing, and a mix of established and burgeoning brands made Chalk a great boutique for investing in future classics." Photo: via Chalk
"I love the use of raw materials in the space: exposed brick, reclaimed wood, rusted iron fixtures, and rough linen," Sleeper says. "It creates a warm environment to shop for fantastic staple pieces from designers like Steven Alan or Nicholas K." Not to mention, you can score "a great party dress from the Samantha Sleeper collection, or something from the store's collective label Roslyn x Suite." Photo: via Roslyn

"The now-weekly market, curated by the brilliant April Francis, always offers fresh talent," Sleeper gushes. "With the constant change of vendors, I'm always excited for the opportunity to find new accessories, jewelry, or a unique, often handmade gift." Photo: via Dose Market

"The first thing I noticed when I stepped into this story is that Space519 carries some of my favorite labels," Sleeper says. "New-York-based label Wayne, Parisian Cacharel, and the ever-so-cool Eddie Borgo are all perfect for adding edge into your wardrobe. Space519 also has an awesome selection of 100% natural apothecary items." Photo: via Space519
"A feast for the eyes, Ikram presents an inspiring array of silhouettes, textures, colors, and editorial pieces that truly deserve to be seen in person," says Sleeper. Photo: via Ikram
Though it's temporarily closed for a renovation, Sleeper still counts this River North shop as one of her favorites. "Owner Alexis Cozzini has the best eye for shoes," Sleeper says. When the store reopens, hoof over there for "covetable heels, boots, flats, and more." Photo: via Sarca
