Though Chicago's seasons are—how do we say this—unpredictable, you can never go wrong with denim. It may be a few months before we can wear the cutoff shorts our Cali counterparts spotted at Coachella, but we're always in the market for more jeans (and—sue us— we'll never stop loving jean jackets.) Below, we've rounded up eight of Chicago's best spots for stocking up on denim.
Open since 1990, the North Shore shop carries classic jeans and jean jackets—and denim styles with a twist. Inventory has included studded Koral denim and '80s-style, patched jean jackets from Mother. There are items for men, as well. [Photo: via Facebook]
Though the Gold Coast outlet of this jean boutique recently shuttered, the Roscoe Village location is still going strong. Find jeans for men, women, and children from lines like Hudson, DL 1961, and Flying Monkey. [Photo: via Facebook]
A staple of Southport Avenue, this indie boutique caters to women. Its denim styles include looks from Hudson, J. Brand, Paige, and AG, and the store also carries comfy tanks and tees. [Photo: Facebook]
The staffers here are dubbed "jeantenders," and they help you pick your denim poison. Tell them your size and preferred styles, then wait in the fitting room as they pull jeans from brands like 7 For All Mankind and Paige. The store is a popular spot for private events, and caters to both men and women. [Photo: via Facebook]
Although it's high-end, this Gold Coast shop is all about the bohemian lifestyle. This season, staffers are dressing mannequins in music-fest-inspired looks with denim from One Teaspoon, Rag & Bone, and more. [Photo: via Facebook]
From the owner of the defunct (and much-missed) Cityblue Apparel and Denim, Roam carries jeans for both sexes. Represented brands include MiH and Current/Elliot. [Photo: via Facebook]
On the third floor of the 900 Shops, this all-about-jeans boutique stocks on-trend styles. Brands include Habitual, J. Brand, and Rag & Bone. [Photo: via Facebook]
